R.I.P. Lea Williams

What goes round
Always comes round
In a way
Of leaps and bounds
Even outside upon the ground
Only ten fold
It shall be found

As you get attacked
So what the heck
In a life
That's a simply wreak
Which is true make no mistake
Only ten fold
Then comes the wake

For your dead
Totally brown bread
It's not good
Through the life you've lead
Which is true so it's said
Only ten fold
And now your dead

Unless you survive
And stay alive
In a world
Where you strive
To be the best with pure drive
Only ten fold
To really thrive

Yet you know
The ultimate blow
Is when your mistaken
So here we go
As people try to stab you so
Only ten fold
In your sleeping bag though

Or simply punch
With a crunch
And kicking you
While being staunch
Even though they've had their lunch
Only ten fold
Through some hunch

That you are them
So they do it again
And if your zipped up
No good my friend
Because you've no way to defend
Only ten fold
To the bitter end

Or your shot at
Oh what a rat
Even though
You did what
Killing you or maybe not
Only ten fold
In the life you got

So it is true
What would you do
Per tact   yourself
Now wouldn't you
Because that's what you got to do
Only ten fold
On the street it is true

Yet my friend
It is the end
Never to see you
Ever again
Yet these words I write and send
Only ten fold
Will remember you my friend

R.I.P Lea Williams

This man was a homeless person I knew and was a wonderfully generous person who was trying to sort his life out.
The the most horrendous thing happened which would scare any person homeless or not and happens to many homeless everyday.

Love you man

Getting Pissed Of For Creating Art

Getting pissed of for creating art
Out on the beach oh what a start
On Brighton seafront to make my mark
To show the world the ultimate spark

With nowhere to live except the beach
Creating art no one can teach
And trying not to be a leech
In a world of darkness I simply screech

So I put up a tent to keep myself clean
That someone has gave me and everyone's seen
Along with duvets because I'm keen
To show the world what I mean

After walking the coast in due respect
To write a book oh what a mistake
To help homeless charities for the crack
After a newspaper told lies which is fact

Which pissed me of more which is true
And I didn't have to do what I did do
Because I didn't care about life too
And all I wanted was to be like you

To have a place and a simple job
So I didn't have to go out and rob
To make ends meet to get a few bob
But this is life for the down and out snob

Thinking that homeless charities would like my cause
And help me out without no claws
To give them something along with applause
As I went out and broke many laws

Just to create art no other would dare
In a world of chaos that is never fair
Yet I was right they don't care
Because I'm no artist this I swear

I'm just a bum out on the road
Who simply lives life no fixed abode
Doing what I do before I explode
Hoping one day my body will corrode

Going through all weathers and becoming ill
This was real stupid and probably is still
Yet like I say its one heck of a thrill
That even newspapers can simply kill

And so do these charities that I want to help
Because I have been there and know what I felt
But they don't care I simply yelp
So no much wonder the homeless hate the life their dealt

As they keep fighting each day and night
To conquer the demons that's never right
After being pissed on from a great height
Then set on fire burning bright

Which I know is simply true
Because it happened to me too
With patronizing interviews oh what's new
I am no one so how do you do

With many a newspaper sharing my story
Of walking the coast oh don't bore me
Which was nice to get the glory
Yet its still not a good enough story

And I am no voice for no homeless person
But as I write this i'm simply cursing
Well out loud with no diversion
With a sore head I am simply nursing

For I'm now messed up in the head
And realizing it I am brown bread
As addiction still boils really instead
Now simply hoping I'll end up dead

Dam Brighton Council

Dam dam dam
Is what I can say
To Brighton council
At the end of the day

For being so pathetic
Towards a down and out
Who's really an artist
Most people simply shout

Yet no matter how I try
To better myself now
I end up in the papers
For messing up somehow

Yet if you have no home
Then what you gonna do
Your gonna rob and steal
Or beg on the streets too

Yet I create art
And busk with it yes
So I can live life
On peanuts I guess

Yet the bigger I go
And try to help others too
By giving them a chance
Of something real new

The council don't like me
For putting up a tent
So we could have a little luxury
That's money well spent

Then others buy you duvets
That change your life around
From sleeping in a doorway
On a really cold ground

Then you get a camping stove
Eatting three meals a day
Wow how your life has changed
In a really simple way

Then you get an eviction notice
For having up a tent
That's simply keeping you dry
On this magical stint

While taken on another person
Who is homeless too
Who's an alcoholic
That everyone hates true

For their normally shoutting abuse
While shoplifting as well
Now their picking up stones
With a better story to tell

Becoming sober
And talking to people alright
Having clean clothes
The futures looking bright

Yet the eviction notice hovers
Twisting our simple minds
Blowing up or dreams
Of having better times

So back to the doorway
We simply go
Back to drinking heavily
And smoking loads of blow

Well this is what has happened
After one hell of a life
As I the crazy artist
Who made a sacrifice

To show how hard it is
To change your life around
From being a homeless person
Who sleeps on the ground

To becoming a pebble artist
Who sculptures for free
Loose pebbles on a beach
Simply by the sea

Which takes many days
And looks awesome upon the shore
Just a pity Brighton council
Don't help me a bit more

Or their homeless charities
That help give us all support
Even though they don't really care
About one homeless mans report

So no much wonder many artists
Simply sleep outside
Because they love live art
That comes from their pride

So if you are an artist
And you come up with something new
Then keep breaking all the rules
Because that's what you have to do

For you are no one special
If you have no money or are clean
So go break all the rules
And live the flipping dream

And tell all flipping councils
You don't care no more
For Brighton was my arts birthplace
Upon the UK shore

And I'm the only one
Who creates big sculptures for free
That's why artists from the UK
Don't get help you see

Yet one day I will make it
In my own simple way
And I will always be helping others
Who live day by day

For they need my help
More than the charities do
Because life is not easy
And the homeless know it too

Never judge a book by its cover
Is what you all say
Well never judge someones name
Or how they look on that day

For many homeless I know
Don't want to be seen this way
And would love my help
So they can live day by day

So they can get a flat
Before it's far to late
And their the next to die
Just like my best mate

Oh well that is life
For many a down and out
But if you don't give them a chance
Then they'll never feel what real life's all about

And that's helping others
While enjoying life too
To rise among the toughest
To show what they can do

To put smiles on many faces
Even though they're in a state
But this is real life
Which is tempting fate

Click on the link above to see what I really do and how hard it has been for someone like myself to be the person I am.

HOMELESSNESS

        Homeless people, black or white,

Over the world, day and night.

Move around, from town to town,

        Eventually settling, themselves down.

Leaving behind, the street life past,

Ending their misery, oh what a task.

Securing a future, for the best,

So they can better, themselves yes.

        Never ever, looking back,

Encouraged by others, for a fact

So they can achieve, something new,

So please help them, please will you.

Looking at the beautiful women

Looking at the beautiful women
Walking past my bed at night
I think to myself  i'm so lucky
To see such a beautiful sight

Even though I am homeless
And living out on the street
In my sleeping bag oh oh yeah
Meeting everyone I simply meet

Even though everyone keeps staring
As I do what i simply do
And I hear a lot of them saying
He's not homeless too

Is it because I sit and write
To hopefully improve my life
Yet money isn't everything
Now that's real sacrifice

With many a laughing stranger
Going out to enjoy their night
No much wonder I simply drink
And love the words I write

For everyone to simply see
And read on this blog too
Yet I don't get paid for doing this
But then again would you

with inspiration running freely
As the cold air gives its bite
In Brighton at Christmas time
That's what makes poets stand and fight

Even though we have our troubles
And our words come in perfect flow
We have to stand up for ourselves
If trouble comes you know

Which could take us back to prison,
As we defend our health,
Even though we have no money
Or should i say no wealth

As you walk by

As you walk by
Looking at the sky
Remember me
And ask yourself why

As I smoke my fag
In my sleeping bag
Remember me
As I take a drag

As I sleep on the street
Writing words unique
Remember me
I must repeat

As I drink my beer
To improve my career
Remember me
Do you hear

As I ask for money
Oh yes honey
Remember me
Isn't it funny

With no I.D.
Or benefits you see
Remember me
And my words for free

As I do what I do
Like a busker too
Remember me
And I'll remember you

As I hear what you say
In a sad way
Remember me
I'll be famous one day

As I won't quit
No not a bit
So remember me
Where I sit

In a doorway
In Brighton today
Remember me
In a crazy way

With no local connection
What a reaction
Remember me
With satisfaction

As you walk by
Looking at the sky
Remember me
And ask yourself why?

On a day when your feeling down

On a day when your feeling down
Smile, smile, smile don't you frown
Even if your on the ground
In a sleeping bag in any town

Or even if you have lost a mate
Smile, smile, smile don't get in a state
For many people can relate
Even though this could be fate

Taking you to a different high
Smile, smile, smile don't you cry
For your beautiful that is why
Now don't give up before you die

For this id life my little friend
Smile, smile, smile to the bitter sweet end
Even if you have to blend
With other people to break this trend

Yet if you cry then don't worry
Because your eyes are a little blurry
as in these moments we have no jury
And want a drink so our words become slurry

So we forget what happened today
When things are miserable and totally grey
Then we pick ourselves up and smile away
As we remember the good times at the end of the day

This poem was written for all those people who have died on the streets of Brighton this past winter. To my knowledge that was 16 people which is a crying shame. But if you are like me and don't like being around junkies then you would rather take your chances with the weather than go up against them stealing of you in hostels.
Even so the U.K. homeless teams or outreach workers would rather relocate you to where you come from than actually give you accommodation in the place where you are.
Many people run away from hard times like sexual abuse, violence, drink, drugs and want to change their lives around but can't because they want to speak to someone who has actually experienced the same as them, than speak to someone who has just got out of university and has experienced nothing except having a good time of course.

Hear Me Drowning

Hear me drowning
In my sleep
As I lay here
And simply weep

Out in the cold
What would you do?
Feeling the weather
Going blue

Understanding it
Or maybe not
Here we go
I'm losing the plot

Way below freezing
Give me a drink
Or even a spliff
To make me think

For this is no good
No not at all
So please do remember
Please never fall

Into the darkness
Never to return
Or you'll simply die
Or simply burn

Sitting in a doorway

Sitting in a doorway
Not knowing what to do
Feeling all the magic
Simply coming true

Watching all the people
Having a good time
Hoping for a chance
To simply rise and shine

Then all of a sudden
It happened to me
Passers by stopped
To party you see

With lots of booze
And now I'm off my head
Oh what a crazy night
Or am I really dead

I don't really know
And I don't really care
Yet respect to all those
Who where truely there

Giving me a good night
To remember you see
As I lay in my sleeping bag
Without a T.V.

Looking at the stars
While going with the flow
In a world full of madness
That many will never know

Living On The Streets

Living on the streets
Being an artist is cool
Yet many shop owners
Think your a fool

As you sleep in their doorway
Which is not right
Yet this is real life
For many at night

With no where to go too
In Brighton its true
Even the council
Really hate us too

With no local connection
What can we say
We don't have a voice
At the end of the day

With the night shelter closed
Its really got bad
As people keeep dieing
Which is real sad

So the poets have to tell it
In their words for free
|For no one will listen
Not even to me

For I'm an outsider
Who creates art on the beach
Which no University
Can simply teach

And I want to help
But it is no good
For I'm treated like dirt
Because I'm a homeless dude

Who walked the coast
To do what I do
To write a book
To help charities too

In the homeless sector
What can I say
They don't care about us
At the end of the day

So no much wonder
We all suffer in pain
And have to live life
All against the grain

For we are out numbered
In evey thing we do
And we are better of addicts
In this life too

So never become homeless
Oh what a joke
For many a woman
And many a bloke

Because no one can help this
As we go through hell
This I do know
With a story to tell

When the rain comes down in Brighton

When the rain comes down in Brighton
And we don't know what to do
As the people walk past us
Haven't got a clue

As we sit a here a writing
And singing many a song
Just a wondering what happened
And what went simply wrong

As we all get simply wet
With no way to easily dry
Oh what a beautiful life
Before we all simply die

When the rain comes down in Brighton
And we don't know what to do
As the people walk past us
Haven't got a clue

As we beg and as we steal
To live day by day
Oh what a complete nightmare
To live life this way

Down in the gutters
With no end in sight
Yet we'll never give up
As we all stand and fight

When the rain comes down in Brighton
And we don't know what to do
As the people walk past us
Haven't got a clue

With no money in our pockets
Or food in our belly
Oh arn't you real lucky
To sit in front of the telly

Watching all the soaps
In a very desperate way
As others simply die
On the streets everyday

When the rain comes down in Brighton
And we don't know what to do
As the people walk past us
Haven't got a clue

For we are all tramps
Or homeless bums alike
Oh what an attitude
To have alright

Yet this is real life
As we get pissed on
For being down and outs
With no home of our own

When the rain comes down in Brighton
And we don't know what to do
As the people walk past us
Haven't got a clue

With some of us being buskers
And others poets as well
Who have to live this life
Out in the living hell

Along with chalk artists
And graffiti ones as too
Yet the rain make it harder
To do what we do

When the rain comes down in Brighton
And you don't know what to do
Don't simply walk past us
Or acknowledge us too

Because who knows who your helping
Maybe someone like me
Who wants to do good
Through art which comes free

As the rain come down in Brighton
And you don't know what to do
Think yourselves lucky
Your not out here too

Living in the gutters
Each day and night
Simply waiting to die
Because you have given up the fight

As the rain comes down in Brighton
And you don't know what to do
Think yourselves lucky
Your not out here too

As the rain comes down in Brighton
And you don't know what to do
Think yourselves lucky
Your not out here too

Would you like to be homeless

Would you like to be homeless
Would you like to be on the street
Would you like to have smelly clothes
And really smelly feet

Would you like to have no income
Would you like to have no job
Would you like to live rough
Or be called a snob

Would you like to beg and steal
Would you like to understand
Would you like to help
Or would you like to be dammed

Yet when someone wants to help
Even though their homeless too
Some charities don’t care
So what would you do

To turn this around
Through art at its best
To do something good
In life’s real test

Well this is the truth
With a story to tell
Through one mans journey
In this living hell

Under a daft name
For everyone to see
Who is called Dr Geebers
Now that is me

So thank you everyone
From deep in my heart
You’ve all done me proud
So I could create my art

Around the U.K. coast
To help people like me
Who ends up homeless
Yet shared his love for free

So have a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Now I can help others
Through my new career

With a book for everyone
In respectful glory
To help many charities
With a real life story

Respect to you all
And have a good time
This Poem is for all of you
Nicely written in rhyme

Even though I’m not homeless
Not now anyway
I found someone special
Who’s brightened my day

Due to creating art
For everyone to see
What a wonderful ending
To happen to me

Maybe sometime in the future
I can do this once more
With real sponcership
Right round our shore

To give 3 others a chance
To live the dream
Of walking the coast
If you know what I mean

Since there is loads of artists
Who need a hand
To get that one chance
To become grand

Yet its hard when you have nothing
To create art so pure
But Dr Geebers is not quitting
And wants this for sure

So thank you everyone
From deep in my heart
For giving me a chance
To show my pebble art

And I’ll say it again
Without any fear
Have a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year

Then seven and a half months later
Its been a tough time
And I messed up again
In glorious sunshine

But now the time has come
In Brighton once more
To make this book happen
Which is total hardcore

As I sleep on the streets
Through rain, hail and snow
Oh what a hard life
For anyone I know

Yet Christmas is coming
Oh what a bore
Yet lets all be Merry
As I say this one more

Have a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
And think of those less fortunate
As your drinking your beer

HELP ME PLEASE

Help me please, Lord I pray,
Encourage me on, through my day.
Let me see, that light please,
Promise me Lord, now with ease.

Making it easier, to move on,
Ending this misery, let it be gone.

Please my Lord, please I pray,
Let me see that light today.
Eventually getting what’s to come,
As life is hard and is no fun.
So help me Lord, please I pray,
Ending this misery, please today.

HOMELESSNESS

Help those people, who need help,
Over the world from town to town,
Making their life’s better for sure,
Ending this misery upon the ground.
Letting them see what life is about,
Enhancing their bodies and their souls,
Securing a future for them at last,
So they can go and achieve their goals.
Never let them feel ashamed,
Encouraging them to do their best.
See their problems in your mind,
So they feel wanted nevertheless.

By Dr. Geebers.

Tackling homelessness

This content applies to England only.
preventing_top_summary1
Shelter is working for an end to homelessness in Scotland and England.

Tackling homelessness is not just about getting people off the streets. It's also about finding lasting solutions to stop people from becoming homeless in the first place.
Preventing homelessness is central to Shelter’s work. Alongside our support services for those in housing need, we campaign for legal and policy solutions to ensure people's homes are protected.

What is homelessness?

Homelessness is the most extreme form of housing need. But it isn’t just about people sleeping on the streets. There are many more people in England who do not have a home despite not actually sleeping rough. Some have to put up with living in temporary accommodation where they have an uncertain future. Unable to afford alternative options, others have to endure overcrowding and unsanitary conditions. Having a home is about more than just having a roof over your head.

The problem of homelessness

Homelessness is not just a housing problem. Not having a decent home adversely affects all areas of your life - from your health, to your achievement at school if you are a child, and your ability to get work if you are an adult. Conversely, if you are struggling with your health or your employment, this may in turn affect your housing needs and the security of your home.
People end up homeless for a wide variety of reasons:
  • When relationships break down, often one person is forced to move out without anywhere to go.
  • Private tenancies frequently last only for six months or a year, and when they come to an end people may face homelessness due to a lack of other affordable options.
  • When faced with an abusive home life, many children decide to run away.
After a reduction in or loss of income due to health reasons or unemployment, or a sharp rise in interest rates, a person may find themselves unable to keep up mortgage repayments. Some people on low incomes who rely on housing benefit to pay their rent can face eviction because of errors and delays in the benefit being paid.
Every homeless person’s situation is unique and complex. But Shelter believes that one of the main underlying causes of homelessness in England is a lack of affordable housing.

How to prevent homelessness

Since 2002, the Government has made homelessness prevention a priority, providing funding to improve homelessness services and requiring local councils to develop proactive strategies to prevent homelessness in their area.
Shelter believes that the current homelessness prevention approach can be improved in a number of ways. For example, we believe that every local authority should have a tenancy sustainment service to help vulnerable people to remain in their homes. We also believe homelessness for many people could be avoided through making the housing benefit system work better.
Ultimately, however, Shelter believes the solution to homelessness in England is to build more affordable housing.
The provision of housing needs to be increased throughout the social housing sector, the private rented sector and in the privately owned sector. Alongside this, the Government should look to build neighbourhoods where people can thrive.

Shelter's campaign demands

Shelter would like to see the Government's homelessness prevention strategy refocused to do more at an earlier stage to help people who are in danger of becoming homeless to keep their home, and to ensure that people who are homeless are offered secure housing they can afford.
Shelter calls on the Government and local councils to:
  • improve access to tenancy sustainment services to ensure that vulnerable people have the support they need to remain successfully in their homes
  • reform the housing benefit system to make it simpler and easy to access for those in housing need.
Shelter opposes policies that create barriers for people who are facing a housing crisis from receiving the help they need.

What is homelessness?

Many people only associate homelessness with sleeping on the streets, but this conceals the range and scale of the problem. To understand what homelessness really is, it's important to first consider what a 'home' is.

What is it like to be homeless?

Most people in England are fortunate enough never to have to experience homelessness. But for those who do, it can be a very traumatic experience that is hard to escape from, damaging physical and emotional well-being along the way.

What causes homelessness?

Homelessness is still viewed by many as the result of personal failings. But homelessness is caused by a complex interplay between a person's personal circumstances, and adverse 'structural' factors, outside that person's direct control. These problems can build up over years leading to the final crisis when a person may become homeless.

Homelessness prevention

Shelter’s work centres around preventing homelessness, both through our critical support services for people in housing need and our campaigns to improve government policies and services for homeless people. We believe people should not be allowed to become homeless and to properly tackle the issue of homelessness, its causes need to be addressed.

Tackling street homelessness

When tackling street homelessness, a distinction needs to be made between meeting the day-to-day needs of street homeless people, and the challenge of finding lasting solutions to their problems and getting them back into decent homes.
